Trained Professionals
Members of Local No. 2 learn the trade through the Roofers & Waterproofers Apprenticeship Training Program. Workers must complete 4,500 hours of on-the-job and classroom training in order to earn Journeymans Certification. In addition, Local No. 2 members participate in seminars and classes offered by the Roofers International Union, the Roofing Industry Educational Institute and the National Roofing Contractors Association.
In addition, union roofers participate in health and safety programs. Workers benefit through strict safety policies; employers benefit by keeping insurance and other costs down; and ultimately, the customer benefits by ensuring that the project is completed on time and within budget.
Union roofers follow the policies and procedures set forth by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Roofers Industry Partnership for Safety and Health.
