The Mission of the Industry Advancement Committee
The Industry Advancement Fund has been established by Roofers Local No. 2 and the Signatory Contractors for the purpose of promoting and maintaining the unionized roofing industry within the jurisdiction of Roofers Local No. 2, to improve labor management relations, job security, organizing effectiveness and to enhance economic development in the area.
In addition to promoting the use of union roofing contractors, the Industry Advancement Fund shall develop and implement programs designed to educate the craftsmen and employees of the Signatory Contractors with respect to the appropriate local, county, state and federal regulations, safety and first aid procedures, and developments in roofing technology and industry standards.
Our Duty to Educate
The United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers Local No. 2’s duty to educate is twofold.
First, we must educate our Union Roofers and Waterproofers in order to keep them up-to-date on industry news and best practices. It is because of this effort to keep our Roofers and Waterproofers on the cutting edge of the roofing industry that the Local No. 2 continues to offer the best roofing services in the St. Louis area.
Second, it is the duty of the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers Local No. 2 to educate the public with regard to reputable (and disreputable) roofing contractors.
These days, inexperienced, fly-by-night repair crews that prey on homeowners, building owners and managers affected by storm damage are all too common. We’ve all heard the stories about the scam artists that come to town following a big storm, collect money for roof repairs and restoration, and do a poor job, or skip out entirely before the work has even been finished.
Local No. 2 is here to help home and building owners protect themselves against this kind of fraudulent business by providing lists of local contractors that are a part of the union and guarantee their work. Many of our members our A+ rated by the Better Business Bureau, and top rated according to review websites like Angie’s List and Yelp.
